Circles seem to feature heavily in my work, I find them so pleasing to look at and it has become quite a feature of my designs, everything seems to have a circular aspect. My lampshades, my mirrors even the way you ultimately wrap a scarf around your neck. So I guess it was inevitable I'd make more round box cushions. I say more because I've made them in the past with my flocked designs on but I've stopped as I no longer have access to a heat press and can't quite convince myself to invest in one yet !
Another reason for making them again was a commission I received via Fig. A client requested different round box cushions for her four family members. I was so pleased to receive my first cushion commission through Fig I decided not to worry too much about making the complicated piped , box cushions again! The results are below using my Bee girl and Bee dance motifs.
I've also been making some box cushions for myself for our new box seat in our kitchen. I adapted an existing pattern and added the butterfly motif. I'm particularly pleased with the white piped feature which gives the cushions a retro contemporary feel! people have commented that theyhave a campervan feel to them. The whole thing is very popular with the teenagers who seem to like its horzontal options, especially after a tiring breakfast experience - its very comfy!
So I love a commision and can adapt existing patterns to suit individual colour specifications
There are other new designs in the pipeline to share for my newly rediscovered box cushions. Currently work in progress . I've started on a new Papillion range of designs - butterflies and moths are important pollenators too don't you know?..
And I've adapted more Peacock parade colourways, along with one of my Ecco designs and designed a all new Papillion motif, all for my snazzy new round box cushions, which I'll be revealing fully made soon...but here's a sneak-peek of the patterns!
